The Assembly is the supreme body of the Association.

It consists of all Association members with legal capacity and representatives of legal person members of the Association appointed by a person authorised for the legal person representation, unless otherwise provided for in an internal act of the legal person.

The Assembly is convened by the President of the Association.

The Regular Assembly is held once a year.

The Electoral Assembly is held every four years to elect the bodies of the Association.


The last Electoral Assembly of HUNIG was held on 19 December 2014 when the Association bodies were chosen.


The Electoral Assembly meeting:

  • reviews the report on work in the past period;
  • adopts the Association’s work plan for the next period;
  • elects the President, Vice-presidents, Chief Secretary, Editor-in-Chief of the professional journal, Section Heads, Presidency, Supervisory Board and Court of Honour.


The Association Assembly:

  • defines Association policy;
  • adopts Articles of Association and Code of Ethics and their updates;
  • passes other general acts;
  • adopts work and financial plan for the next calendar year;
  • adopts work report and financial report for the previous calendar year;
  • elects and dismisses persons authorised to represent the Association;
  • decides on the membership fee amount;
  • decides on a new section founding;
  • decides on all matters relevant to the Association;
  • makes final decisions on appeals filed by members regarding admittance and exclusions;
  • decides on membership in related organisations in Croatia and worldwide;
  • decides on the termination of the Association;
  • decides on other matters for which the Articles of Association do not stipulate responsibility of other Association bodies.


The Management Board consists of the President, two Vice-presidents, Chief Secretary and Editor-in-Chief of the professional journal.

The Management Board transacts the business of the Association within the powers granted to it by the Presidency.

In emergency the Management Board passes decisions on matters which are the responsibility of the Presidency. Such Management Board decisions are submitted for approval by the Presidency at the next Presidency meeting.

The Management Board reports to the Presidency on its work and business transacted on behalf of the Association between the two Presidency meetings as a separate item of the agenda.

The Management Board decides on conclusion of contracts and provisional salaries of permanent and part-time employees who can be Association members or external associates and reports it to the Presidency.

Minutes of the Management Board are maintained by the Chief Secretary.

Chief Secretary

The Presidency of the Association is the executive organ of the Assembly.

The Presidency consists of the President, two Vice-presidents (one for geology and other for petroleum engineering), Chief Secretary, Editor-in-Chief of the professional journal and the publishing activity, President of the Association in the previous term of office, Section Heads or their deputies and representatives of the founding members.

Members of the Association who distinguished themselves with their work may be proposed to the Association Presidency.

The term of office of all Presidency members having the voting right lasts four years.

The Presidency reports to the Assembly.


At the Electoral Assembly of HUNIG held on 19 December 2014 the following members were elected to the Presidency:



The Presidency of the Association:

  • manages the Association in line with the Articles of Association, Assembly decisions and the work programme;
  • submits to the Assembly work report and preliminary activity plan for the next period;
  • submits to the Assembly summary of financial operations in the past period;
  • submits to the Assembly a proposal of financial plan for the next calendar year;
  • takes measures to implement annual work plan;
  • suggests to sections measures to improve work and enhance activities;
  • organises cooperation between sections;
  • organises lectures, symposiums and other events;
  • proposes to the Assembly of the Association decisions regarding Association enhancements;
  • proposes award of titles to distinguished and honorary members;
  • establishes, where required, councils, committees, working groups, commissions, expert bodies and defines their tasks;
  • proposes to the Assembly adoption of the Articles of Association, regulations, rules of procedures and interpretations and amendments thereto;
  • implements conclusions of the Assembly;
  • submits report on the Association work to the Assembly;
  • decides in the first instance on the appeal of members regarding admittance or exclusions;
  • manages the Association assets;
  • uperforms all other duties as authorised for by the Association Assembly.



The Supervisory Board is appointed for the purpose of immediate and efficient protection of the Association members, proper implementation of legislation, provisions of these Articles of Association and other acts of the Association, overall supervision of material and financial operations, safeguarding of property and other rights and obligations.

The Supervisory Board consists of the President and two members elected by the Assembly for the office term of four (4) years.

A member of the Presidency cannot be appointed as a Supervisory Board member.

The Supervisory Board has the right and obligation to check regularity of the work and operations of the Association bodies, warn of observed irregularities and demand their elimination.

The Supervisory Board is obliged to submit a report on the results of its work to the Presidency and the Assembly.

The Supervisory Board passes decisions by a majority vote of the total number of members.

The Supervisory Board reports to the Assembly.

The Court of Honour initiates proceedings against any member of the Association who fails to perform its membership obligations, harms the reputation of the Association, a section or another Association member.

The Court of Honour consists of the President and two members.

Proceedings before the Court of Honour may also be initiated by the Association Assembly, the Association Presidency, the Supervisory Board and any member of the Association.

The work of the Court of Honour is governed by the Code of Ethics of the Association.

The term of office of the court members lasts four years.

The Secretariat of the Association is a professional-administrative body of the Assembly, Presidency, Management Board and President of the Association. The Secretariat prepares and implements tasks and decisions of the Assembly, Presidency, Management Board and President of the Association, along with tasks defined by the work programme and provisions of the Articles of Association and carries out all other administrative-professional and operational duties.

The Secretariat performs and organizes legal, financial and accounting activities, general services, maintains finances, and is in charge of and supervises the obligation to compile and submit financial reports according to valid legislation.

The Chief Secretary is a member of the Presidency and manages the Secretariat of the Association; he/she is elected by the Association Assembly.
