Petroleum Engineering Summer School (PESS) has been operating within the academic program for advanced studies of the Inter-University Centre Dubrovnik (IUC) for more than twenty five years. The interactive seminars are organized by the Executive Directors of the PESS, professors from the Petroleum Engineering Department of the Faculty of Mining, Geology & Petroleum Engineering, University of Zagreb, and co-directors, distinguished professors from Croatian universities and abroad and professionals.

Petroleum Engineering Summer School is organized every year in June as two interactive seminars or workshops, each lasting five days.

Interactive seminar - workshop Contemporary Issues and Challenges of Petroleum Industry will be held from 6 to 10 June 2016. Within this workshop a short course titled Rules and Conditions Governing Future Hydrocarbon Exploration and Production Activities in Croatia- Issues & Challenges will be held on 6 June. Short Course Enhanced Oil Recovery is scheduled for 7-10 June. The task of the second Short Course is to explore how to revitalize mature fields with the contemporary EOR methods. The scope of the course is to give the comprehensive knowledge of new technologies and reservoir characterization in exploitation of remaining hydrocarbon reserves.

In the second week of Summer School from 13-17 June two workshops will be held. One is Natural Gas Market Development, and the other is Reservoir Evaluation and Management which will mainly focus on unconventional reservoirs and different aspects of fracturing of conventional but also unconventional reservoirs.
